This blog has been a long time coming and we know that many of you have been wondering what we’ve up to for the past two years!
In our last blog (over two years ago), we were only a few months in to this journey. Since then, things have definitely changed, but our tiny house dream hasn’t worked out as we’d planned – not even close.
So, what’s different? Everything!
Are you sitting down? It’s been just over two years since our last blog. We have a lot to catch up on, so let’s get started!
In 2014, we left the big city of Dallas, Texas and traveled to Albany, Oregon. After months of planning, we were ecstatic to finally be meeting our builder and beginning the construction on our tiny house. Unfortunately, that’s not how things played out.
Plans change. Be prepared!
Before we get into the details of everything that’s happened, we’d like to start by answering a few questions that will help shed some light on our everyday life and our involvement in the tiny house community.
Where do we live?
We currently live on a beautiful grass seed farm just outside of Corvallis, Oregon. We’re about an hour from the Oregon coast. Yes, the mountains here are amazing. Yes, it rains a lot. We’ve been here at the same location for just over a year now. We have a beautiful garden with a good variety of veggies and fruits. We have a great land owner and neighbors, an awesome tree swing, a horse, some chickens and astonishing views surrounding us every day. We absolutely love it here! Did we mention that it rains a lot here? 😉
Do we live in a tiny house?
No, not yet… but we can honestly say, “it’s a very tiny space”. Our family of four (+ 1 small dog) live in a 26′ class C motorhome. We’ve lived in this space for over a year now, and it is tiny inside! Total living space inside is about 140 sq ft (and not laid out nearly as well as a tiny house). It’s an ’84 model, so a little TLC has been required. We’ll be sharing more pics and info about the RV in an upcoming blog!
What do we do?
Bobby and Angie have been a part of the small team that helped to coordinate and pull off the largest gathering of tiny houses in history at the 2015 Tiny House Jamboree. Bobby has stepped away from the event after the start of this year to focus on other opportunities. Angie has remained as one of the THJ event coordinators. She is currently working with the team to ensure the 2016 National Tiny House Jamboreeâ„¢ is even bigger and better than last year. Angie will also be a speaker at the event this year! You don’t want to miss it.
What’s Next?
Now that we’ve brought you up to speed on our current place in life, it’s time to take a more detailed look at some of the events in our life. Topics we have planned include: what happened with our tiny house, the hilarious side of our tiny life in 140 sq ft, 7k miles and 3 months on the road, the 2015 Tiny House Jamboree and lots more!
